. Lucia, June 22, 2024 – South Africa continued their impressive run in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, edging out defending champions England by 7 runs in a gripping Super 8s encounter.

Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, England struggled to contain Quinton de Kock, who smashed 65 off 38 balls. David Miller added 43 off 28, guiding South Africa to a competitive total of 163/6. Jofra Archer was the standout bowler for England, claiming 3/40.

In their chase, England faced early setbacks with Kagiso Rabada and Keshav Maharaj dismantling the top order. At 61/4 in the 11th over, Harry Brook (53 off 37) and Liam Livingstone (33 off 17) revived England’s hopes, adding 78 runs. However, Rabada's tight 18th over, conceding just 4 runs, and Marco Jansen's 7-run penultimate over, left England needing 14 off the final over.

Anrich Nortje struck on the first ball of the last over, dismissing Brook, and England fell short, finishing at 156/9. Maharaj was the pick of the bowlers with 2/25, while Rabada took 2/32.
